Puppetry taster workshop

We will be running a puppetry taster workshop for families in the Redruth home schooling community on 28th January 2022, at The Stithians Centre.

This 1 hour 30 minutes workshop will give families with children aged 5-8 a taster of a longer puppetry and storytelling programme that we are developing for the home ed community. Participants will learn how to bring different puppets to life, how to discover and create characters, and they will take their puppet on its first mini adventure! All materials will be provided.

  • Date: 28th January 2022
  • Time: 2.15-3.45pm
  • Place: The Stithians Centre, Stithians (there is on-street parking outside and a free car park a short walk from the venue). Please note: as the Centre is next door to a school the street can get very busy around the end of the school day, so please take care.

The workshop leader

Our Artistic Director Jennie will be running the workshop. Jennie is a professional puppeteer, actor and drama workshop leader who trained at East 15 Acting School in London and the Curious School of Puppetry. She has an enhanced DBS check and several years of experience running workshops, from teaching puppetry skills to children in Russia, adults in China over Zoom, and recently running a puppet-making workshop for children at Falmouth Food Coop’s Community Feast.

Covid-19 safety

We will be keeping windows open in the main hall to keep the room well ventilated, and will have hand sanitiser available for use before handling shared materials. If you would rather use your own hand sanitiser please feel free to bring some. The venue currently requires those over the age of 12 to wear a face covering when inside, so we ask that any accompanying adults please comply unless medically exempt. The workshop leader will be wearing a face covering for the duration of the workshop, and will take a lateral flow test beforehand. We ask that those attending please take a lateral flow test on the morning of the workshop, and obviously please don’t come if it’s positive! Let’s keep everyone as safe as we can while still having fun.

Please note: though we will take every precaution we can to minimise the risk of Covid-19 infection, we cannot be held liable if you or your child develop Covid-19 after attending the workshop. You attend the workshop at your own risk.
